Treat a first impression as a starting interpretation that can be revised.
An example
Suppose one person is charming and another reserved. Neither presentation alone establishes reliability. In this original example, you would look at promises kept, work delivered, and relevant context.
Try it
Divide a page into “What I observed” and “What I inferred.” Put one first impression into both columns.
