Remember tomorrow—or remember next year?
The useful gap between reviews changes with how long you need to remember. One schedule does not fit every learning goal.
The idea
A study schedule should state what you want to remember and for how long.
An example
“Review every Friday” is a schedule. “Recall these concepts for a presentation next month” is a goal. Compare your review results with the goal and adjust deliberately rather than treating the schedule as inherently optimal.
Try it
Choose one learning goal, its use date, and a way to check retention. Treat your first schedule as a plan to evaluate.
More context
The spacing study found that the most useful review gap changed with the intended retention interval. It does not support one universally perfect review schedule for every subject and learner. Research interpretation · avoid a universal prescription
