As a young child, Danny experienced incarceration in three concentration camps in Thailand and the Philippines. His journey with his father in search of a better life in the United States also included 25 days stranded in a small fishing boat on the Pacific Ocean with 72 other people. To Danny, living in America was like winning the lottery. Looking back, he remains deeply thankful for the opportunities this country has afforded him: “I would not trade it for the world.”
Danny graduated from Texas A&M University with a BA in Business and Marketing Administration, concentrating in International Business Marketing. He eventually chose commercial real estate as his career. Through hard work and diligence, he progressed from agent to broker, purchased a RE/MAX commercial franchise and acquired his first building.
After earning his MBA and CCIM designation, Danny became a real estate investor. Twenty years later, Danny and his team had developed expertise in income-producing properties, shopping centers, commercial buildings and land throughout the Houston area.
“It is very satisfying to drive around different cities to see buildings standing and flourishing, knowing that it is the result of your efforts,” Danny says. He is particularly proud of the development along Highway 6, from Mission Bend to his alma mater, Clements High School.
Danny believes in helping others grow. In 2010, he was elected to an at-large seat on the Missouri City Council, where he served as chair of the International Relations and Economic Development Committee. He was subsequently re-elected unopposed.
“I was born and grew up in one of the poorest places on earth, during the most dangerous times at the peak of the Vietnam War,” Danny reflects. For him, the journey from political refugee to elected official represents one of the highest honors of his life.
Danny believes that difficult times encourage resourcefulness, creativity and long-term thinking. Despite his many accolades, he considers overcoming adversity his proudest achievement. His respect for the industry, strong faith in God and trust in his team have helped him navigate economic challenges in real estate.
He shares that experience through workshops and training for aspiring entrepreneurs in immigrant and minority communities. A strong advocate for free enterprise, Danny believes that one of America’s greatest freedoms is the freedom to succeed.
